Update on SIAPWS Annual Meeting

  • by

The Annual Meeting of SIAPWS was planned to take place in Copenhagen on 18th and 19th March with the usual agenda of the general meeting, a technical workshop and a plant visit at the new municipal waste incinerator in Copenhagen, ARC, which is renowned already from the modern architecture. However, due to the Covid-19 virus, the meeting has been cancelled. Several participants and the presenters from UK and Sweden were not allowed to come by travel restrictions imposed by their mother companies, and the plant visit could not be realized either. The general meeting part is taking place as a Skype meeting on 18th March, and the workshop part has been deferred until late August or beginning of September. The main part of the program will most likely be maintained, but there is also space for a couple of suggestions, if there is something you would like to hear about.

UPDATE: The general meetings was held as a Skype-session on 18 March with about 15 participants. The proposal for new statutes and the annexed SIAPWS Vision and Mission were approved by the assembly. Sare Sjögren, Vattenfall, Uppsala, was elected as new member of the SIAPWS Executive Committee, and Monika Nielsen, Ørsted, and Arja Lehikoinen, Valmet, were reelected for the next two years.

The planned workshop is postponed to 25-26 August 2020 and will be held as a joint event with SIAPWS Danmark. Please, note the dates and plan to participate – the agenda will be extended with a session on the educational level because the general meeting part is no longer needed.
